Policy
Journal of International Medical Research and Health Sciences (JIMRHS) is employing a Review Tracking System to assess the standard of a manuscript before it published. Once a researcher submit their manuscripts, it's screened thoroughly to check the originality, validity, and significance to assist the editor to determine whether the manuscript should be published within the journal or not.
Each manuscript is checked for plagiarism, and assessed carefully to figure out if it fits the aims and scope of the journal. If it does, the editorial team will assign a minimum 3 potential reviewers to peer-review the manuscript and make recommendations. And if it doesn’t fit the aims and scope of the journal then the editorial team will reject the manuscript.
Upon submission, authors are encouraged to submit names of reviewers who they consider appropriate to review their paper. Authors can also indicate persons to whom they don’t wish the manuscript sent for review. The reviewer’s selection are made on the impartiality, expertise, and equal distribution among the available experts, negligent of geographic origin of the manuscript or locations of the reviewers.
Editor will decide how peer review will be conducted and peer reviewers selected.
Single-blind peer-review: In a single-blind review, reviewers are aware of the authors’ identity, but authors are unaware of who reviewed their paper. While this method serves to decrease chances of bias or conflict of interest, there is a probability that disclosing the author’s identity could influence the review.
Double-blind peer-review: In a double-blind peer review system both the peer reviewers and author are not aware of each other’s identity.
Other forms of Peer review process
Open peer review: In an open peer review, identities of both authors and reviewers are known to all. This system allows the authors responses and peer reviewer comments to be published along with the final manuscript.
Post-publication peer review: Some open access publications adopted a new approach to overcome the limitations of traditional forms of peer review is the name suggests, in this type of review, reviewers evaluate a manuscript after it’s been published on an open access platform. Here, the identities of reviewer and author are known (published). This system allows reviewers to take credits for their reviews.
JIMRHS reserves the right to make the final selection of peer reviewers, to determine the number and kind of manuscripts sent for review, the number of reviewers, the reviewing procedures, and the use made of reviewers’ opinions. In addition to scientific merit, the Editor-in-Chief/Editor reserves the proper right to assess papers without external peer review. All effort is made to complete the review process on time.
